Boronyog Games Season V Opens

Now on its fifth season, the Boronyog Games of the Holy Rosary Major Seminary was officially declared open last July 14, 2018. The activity started with the parade of the 5 competing teams namely, Fraternitas, Communitas, Unitas, Sodalitas and Societas, together with their respective muses and mascots. It was led by the Drum, Lyre and Majorette Corps of the Naga City School of Arts and Trade. Upon their arrival at the Saint Peter Baptist Center, shouts and noises were heard once again as the roll call of teams had been conducted. The respective team banners had been placed on stage marking the willingness of each team to participate in this year’s Boronyog Games competitions. The program continued as three seminarians of the Coro del Santissimo Rosario rendered the song “When You Believe” for the opening prayer. The Production Number of the muses of each team and the showcase of the first ever Eco-Cosplay competition took the spotlight. It was followed by the Lighting of the Torch, done by Sem. John Lino Labrador, Sports Committee Chairman, and the Oath of Sportsmanship, led by Rev. Fr. Austin John Ortinero, Sports Committee Moderator. Mr. Allen Lucre Reondanga, Naga City Sports Commissioner, rendered his inspirational message to the seminarians to maintain a fit and healthy body. Addressing the seminarians as future priests of the Church, he stated 4 reasons why every seminarian and even priest should be fit. He emphasized the importance of a Faith-Inspired Training (FIT). He said, “be fit for yourself, for the country, for the Church, and above all for God.” After which, the most awaited words were finally uttered by Rev. Fr. William M. Parde, Jr., Rector, to formally open the Boronyog Games Season V. The Ceremonial Toss was conducted by the Rector himself together with Rev. Fr. William Santiago, priest-moderator of Team Fraternitas, the defending team champion. In the end, the final blessing was given and everyone sang the Holy Rosary Seminary hymn. The program for the Opening of the Boronyog Games Season V marks the beginning of a 9-month journey for the Team Unitas, Sodalitas, Societas, Communitas and Fraternitas towards the highly-coveted championship trophy.
